Tell us a bit about Alex
I love problem-solving, so a career in technology was an obvious choice—not only do you get to solve problems quickly, but you also get to see them working (or quickly learn from when they don’t). I’m always very curious, as I like to know how things work and ensure alignment and understanding to speed up outcomes. But most importantly, I like to do all of this with a big sense of fun and enjoyment—some might say a mission-driven Labrador.
What made you decide to come and work for Kosli?
For me, it was the perfect alignment of four things:
- A clearly defined problem where we can be the best in the world at solving it
- A product that people want to pay money for
- A passion for this problem area (my whole career has been largely infra & DevOps focused)
- The top-class culture of the people I’d be joining to solve this problem collaboratively with
What were you doing before Kosli?
Before Kosli, I spent 6.5 years at Modulr, an embedded payments company, as the Director of Technology with accountability for the Platform, Security, IT Infrastructure, and IT Service. This is where I first learned about Kosli as a customer, and I knew early on that when the time was right, I wanted it to be my next move!
Prior to Modulr, I was at Tesco Bank and started off my career in Tesco Retail IT.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
It’s really a mix of sports, gym, theatre, walking, and continuous improvement. I love watching all sports but play curling and golf.
I start my mornings with reading before heading to the gym and then coming home to walk our dog, Toffee. When we have a free evening, my wife and I love going to the theatre, and we have both been known to tread the boards ourselves—which is, in fact, how we met.
Living in Edinburgh, the annual Fringe Festival is always a real highlight, as well as the total ease of access to green areas for longer walks!
