Tell us a bit about…
I grew up in the UK and spent most of my adult life living and studying geology in various cities around the country (interspersed with multiple trips to South Africa to volunteer with cute, furry creatures). Eventually, I had the opportunity to move to Oslo, and after some time, I decided to leave geology and move into software development—which is where Kosli comes in.
What made you decide to come and work for Kosli?
While I was studying computer science at the University of Oslo, Mike (our CEO) came to give a guest lecture on test-driven development, which I found very interesting. I spoke to him briefly after the lecture about the possibility of doing an internship with Kosli, and a few months later, I officially joined the team as an intern, continuing alongside my studies for the next year or so.
I had a great time doing this—the product is extremely interesting, the work was enjoyable, and I learned loads of things I never would have through university—so when I graduated and Kosli offered me a full-time position, I jumped at the chance!
What were you doing before Kosli?
In my previous life, I was a geologist with a focus on oil and gas exploration. I finished my PhD and worked for a small geological consultancy here in Oslo for a while before I decided to change gears and go back to university to become a software engineer—which led me directly to Kosli.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy a mix of lazy hobbies (primarily reading and gaming, with a healthy amount of TV and doomscrolling) and active pursuits (particularly weightlifting, cycling, and cross-country skiing).
I also have a great love for volunteering with wildlife in South Africa, where I have helped care for everything from eagles and vultures to baby antelope, lions, and leopards.
