Steve Tooke
Principle Engineer
Tell us a bit about Steve Tooke?
I’ve been working in the technology industry for over 20 years, taking on various roles such as programmer, coach, consultant, and trainer. I have a passion for breaking down organizational barriers and have been instrumental in enabling different groups to work together for shared outcomes.
What made you decide to come and work for Kosli?
I was drawn to Kosli for many reasons. I was looking for a role in a startup that had a great solution to a compelling problem and was starting to get that solution into the hands of customers. I wanted to be part of shaping that solution. I was also attracted to the opportunity to blend product management and software engineering. Breaking down barriers between organizational silos has been a theme throughout my career, and I felt that Kosli’s vision was all about breaking down the next key obstacle.
What were you doing before Kosli?
Before joining Kosli, I worked as a programmer, coach, consultant, and trainer. In 2015, I co-founded Cucumber Limited, and we were later acquired by SmartBear in 2019. There, I took a role in product management, leading the Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) products. I also led product management for the internal platform team.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I’m a bit of a foodie – I enjoy cooking and eating great food. I’m particularly fascinated by things that ferment, like baking sourdough bread and experimenting with small-batch home brewing. I’ve currently got some Elderflower “champagne” bubbling away in a cupboard. I would also, tentatively, call myself a runner. I really enjoy getting out into the local countryside and just running (slowly) for a couple of hours. I’m building up to my first big organized trail run in November, 20 miles in the Hampshire South Downs.
